I was able to stay at Hotel Van Zandt in Austin during SXSW 2025. This is my first time staying at this hotel as I have seen it before from various times I would pass by walking to Rainey Street. I decided to stay with my partner for 2 nights during weekend 2 of SXSW 2025.
Here are my thoughts:
Pro:
- Close to Downtown Austin
- The hotel is ideal as its very close to the heart of downtown near the convention center. I’m able to walk to the convention center and other events of SXSW and then walk back to the hotel in ease.
- Old fashioned room
- The room is very rustic and old fashioned in the terms as age. I was astonished on how well kept they made sure the room was for my stay.
Con:
- Bed was very lumpy
- That is one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever laid on before! The bed was very lumpy and would sink in when laying down.
- No Shower Door
- There was no shower door in the restroom when I took a shower! I felt like I was going to get water all over the place while I wait for it seem like hours to get hot water. I didn’t like this at all!
